Wilson Lake
Water Temp. 53
Water Level 3-4 below full pool

Largemouth bass are starting to move up to points leading into creeks.  The best lures to use are jigs, lizards, and brushhogs. Fish are very active at night.  Daytime fishing is better when it is cloudy.  Look for brush and rocks under the water in 8-14 feet of water.  Smallmouth that I have caught have been out on bluffs that are about 18 feet deep.   Those have been caught on jigs.

Guntersville Lake
Water Temp. 56
Water Level 1-2 feet low

Largemouth are starting to move for prespawn.  Some are already showing signs that are getting ready to spawn.  The best lures right now are sexyshad rattletraps and brushhog worms.  Some fish are still out on the creek channels around shellbeds.  The shellbeds will be in 5-8 feet of water.  The bite is really starting to pick up as the weather is starting to get warmer.  Still catching some bass on black and blue jigs in scattered milfoil with rocks around it.

Crappie are biting everywhere!  Around bridges, boathouses, scattered grass.  Most are being caught on bass assassion jigs with 1/16 ounce jighead.  Some are putting corks above the jighead to keep it above the milfoil.  This has been a great year for crappie fishing, with lots of numbers being caught as well as big fish.
